The practice is led by Dr. Joshua Kohan, DMD, who trained at UCLA and has spent his career caring for children. Orthodontic treatment is provided in coordination with our partner orthodontists, so a child can move from their first visit through to braces without changing practice.
A visit should end well. How an appointment finishes is what a child remembers next time. We would rather do less on the first visit and have a child who is willing to come back than complete everything and lose their trust.

Dr. Joshua Kohan earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and completed his training at UCLA. He has practised pediatric dentistry for over five years and treats children exclusively, from infants at their first visit through to teenagers finishing orthodontic treatment.
He follows the age-based guidance of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, including the recommendation that a child’s first dental visit happen by age one. For orthodontic timing he works to the American Association of Orthodontists guidance of a first evaluation around age seven — while being clear with parents that most children need only monitoring at that stage.
Parents most often mention two things in reviews: that he is patient with anxious children, and that he does not over-diagnose. Both come from the same conviction — that a child’s long-term relationship with dental care matters more than any single appointment.
